A signature event on the Pietermaritzburg & Midlands Chamber of Business calendar of annual events, the PMCB Women in Business Luncheon, scheduled for August 2nd at Maritzburg College, features inspiration and fun in equal measure.


Come along and be inspired by our Guest Speaker, Transformational Coach Saray Khumalo, a Guinness World Record holder, award winning Mountaineer and the first Black African woman to summit Mount Everest.


You'll also enjoy some comedic relief from the wildly funny Aunty Rumba (aka Jailoshini Naidoo).


Guests are encouraged to embrace this year's theme: "The Sky's Not the Limit!" by dressing in "These boots are made for...".

    Saray is an award winning Mountaineer, a Guinness World Record holder and an author who provides world-class Transformational Coaching to entrepreneurs, executives, business professionals and sales teams all over the world.

    As an experienced business executive, she has a solid track record in some of South Africa’s leading financial institutions as an eCommerce and Loyalty Specialist.

    In 2019, on her fourth attempt, Saray summited Mount Everest, becoming the first Black African woman to summit Mount Everest - a demonstration of her resilience, irrespective of her starting point and past unsuccessful attempts. Saray uses a combination of mountaineering triumphs and her ability to steer businesses to partner with organisations that are on a transformational journey to enable individuals and teams to identify their personal and business goals, explore and unleash their full potential and achieve set goals.

    She is the founder of “Summits with a Purpose”, an initiative that has raised funds and built physical and digital libraries in disadvantages African schools. She believes that literacy and education have the power to change the narrative for the next generation.

    Popular television and stage personality, Jailoshini Naidoo, has had a long and varied career as an actress, comedian and television presenter.

    Currently, a presenter on SABC2’s Eastern Mosaic, Jailoshini, has won a huge fan base through her charisma, grace, simplicity, her jovial personality and her ability to interact with all people with warmth and respect. She’s equally at ease on glamorous TV shoots travelling the world and interviewing Celebrities or when going into the poorest, communities, offering assistance and creating awareness. Her compassion, love and affection for people is most evident in these community based projects. She previously worked as a television Continuity Presenter on MNET.

    THEATRE/STAGE
    Jailoshini’s versatility and passion for the theatre saw her embrace and command the stage to become a popular and sought after actress and comedian (everybody knows Aunty Rumba!). She has performed at major arenas all over the country, including The Market Theatre, Baxter Theatre, The Playhouse as well as the Grahamstown and Hilton Arts Festivals.

    ACHIEVEMENTS/AWARDS
    For her work on stage, Jailoshini was nominated twice for FNB Vita Awards, six times for Durban Theatre Awards and once for the Mercury Theatre Award, all in the category ‘Best Lead Actress”. She was also nominated for a Fools Award in 2009 for Best Actress and was runner up for the Mercury Durban Theatre Award’s ‘Most Popular Theatre Personality’. She won two awards at the Mercury Durban Theatre Awards in November 2011 for “Theatre Personality of the Year” and “Best Comedy performance by a Female”. She has also been selected to receive a ‘Golden Peacock Award’ from the Indian Academy of South Africa for ‘Outstanding Talent and Contribution to the Arts’, particularly in the areas of Stage, Television and as a Comedian.

    One of Durban’s most popular Stand Up Comedians, she has performed Stand Up Comedy for many Private and Corporate functions including the likes of Standard Bank and SAB. She also performed at the Prince of Dubai’s birthday party in the Seychelles.
