Event Details

Chamber Lunch is a fun networking event which includes a two-course meal, refreshments and lots of lucky draw prizes!

This month we are pleased to introduce you to Thornton Pillay, the first South African Winemaker of Indian origin.

Let's tell you a little about Thornton: Thornton obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Stellenbosch. Upon graduating he was chosen to be a part of the Cape Winemakers Guild Protege Programme and was given the opportunity to work alongside winemakers at some of South Africa's greatest wineries such as Ernie Els Wines, KWV and Groot Constantia. He even travelled to France in 2014 to make wine in Burgundy at Comte Armand!

A few years back he relocated from the Cape to the KZN Midlands, where he established vineyards and produced wines at Highgate Wine Estate. Thorton is currently resident in Pietermaritzburg and is blending his own range of wines in the Cape called Thornleigh, which he likes to pair with curries.

Why not come along to meet Thornton, enjoy this novel experience and network at the same time?

You will also get to put your business card in the Chamber pot and you may be drawn as a speaker at the next Chamber Lunch.
